Request for Advice
A guardian may request the advice of the Board regarding any matter relating to the scope of the guardianship order or the exercise of any of the functions, obligations and duties of the guardian under the Guardianship Order.
The Board may:
- Approve/disapprove of any act proposed to be done by the guardian
- Give such advice as it considers appropriate
- Make any order/decision as it considers necessary
- Amend or revoke the guardianship order
Special Powers of the Board
If the Guardianship Board receives information confirmed on oath that a person with disability or
mental disorder is suffering serious damage to their physical, emotional or mental health due to
ill-treatment, abuse or neglect from the Guardian, the Board may appoint a person/s to visit the
person with disability or mental disorder and prepare a report of the situation.

INFORMATION TO THE BOARD (UNDER OATH)
APPOINTMENT OF PERSON/S TO PREPARE A REPORT (Police intervention may be used if difficulties arise)
SUBMISSION OF REPORT TO THE BOARD
BOARD MAY GRANT RIGHT TO THE ACCUSED TO BE HEARD
REPORT TO RELEVANT AUTHORITY FOR INTERVENTION
Application Process
A person applies for Guardianship by filling in an application and a medical report that can be obtained from the office of the Registrar of the Guardianship Board or via the links below.
